Poetry by L.B. Strawn

ANNALS OF HISTORY

Some of my poems have been likened

To those of a poet named Longfellow,

With words which flow like music,

With thoughts that are soft and mellow.

Some have likened them to Joyce Kilmer;

His lovely thoughts about God and a tree.

I could not receive a better compliment;

They are good for my ego and me.

Someone likened them to another poet

Whose name I cannot recall,

But remember that his poetry

Was also that which could enthrall.

So, may my thoughts continue as theirs;

May they set your tender spirit free.

May they also last until the end of time,

Being found in the annals of history.
